A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME AS A CHURCH MUSICIAN

Marie has worked as an organist and music director in churches across the mid-Atlantic east coast for over eight years. She is currently a member of the American Guild of Organists as part of the Baltimore Chapter, and in the past has been active in the Durham-Chapel Hill Chapter based in North Carolina. Marie has played in more than ten churches during her time as an organist, and in those churches she has done substitute work, choir directing work, cantor work, handbell choir directing work, and choir + instrumental ensemble work. When working in Baltimore city, Marie has been the music director of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Epiphany Lutheran Church, and is now stepping up as music director at Govan's Presbyterian Church. Marie's active composition work thrives in the churches she works for; she has written more than 80 organ pieces in her time as a church musician including arrangements and orchestral transcriptions, following in the footsteps of her former organ teacher, Jeremy Filsell. Marie has also written many choral pieces, one of which was featured for Epiphany Lutheran's 2020 virtual Christmas Eve service. To listen to some of Marie's church work, including contemporary service singing and piano playing, scroll down to view some video footage below. Marie is also a member of the American Choral Directors Association, the Presbyterian Association of Musicians, and the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers.

CONCERT SERIES AT EPIPHANY

Thanksgiving Benefit Concert: November 28, 2021

This concert featured Marie Herrington on piano and organ playing hymn requests from various congregation members of the Epiphany Lutheran Church community. Marie took these hymn requests and created arrangements of each hymn so they were personalized for the individuals who chose said hymns.
